Geothermal Energy is not only succesfull in Iceland and New Zealand. Also in the Netherlands this is a highly expanding market. Glass House Growers combine and form energy companies exploring geothermal energy. Such energy companies use Oil and Gas technologies in order to get the water up from 2-4 km deep wells. Subsequent to exploring the heat with heat exchangers, the water is reinjected in another well on some 5 km distance. The cold water migrates to the warm zone in some 30 year time, hopefully warming up again during this migration. Such water often comes together with some gas or oil and the technology and eventual problems are very much similar to oil and gas production. Ironhaven uses it’s extended oil and gas expertise in order to help energy companies with the following:
- Materials Selection.
- Corrosion and scaling monitoring.
- Cathodic protection and elimination of galvanic corrosion.
- Corrosion and Maintenance Management with RBI Assessment.
Corrosion and Scaling Management, Monitoring and Maintenance for Geothermal Projects has been described in the Handbook below (in Dutch).
